Dustin Hoffman Successfully Treated for Cancer


Dustin Hoffman is on the mend after successful treatment for cancer, his rep confirmed to ABC News on Tuesday, Aug. 6. No details about the type of cancer or treatment were immediately available, but the actor, 75, is said to be doing well.

He hopes to stay that way, too. Per his doctor's recommendation, Hoffman will reportedly undergo preventative treatments to minimize his risk of recurrence.


To his credit, the two-time Oscar winner has shown no signs of slowing down in recent months. He made his directorial debut with the movie Quartet, and he has at least three films in the works over the next couple of years.

"I would develop stuff like every other actor...and put it aside," he told Good Morning America recently of why he decided to finally try his hand behind the camera. "The most important part of it is when you're in your 30s and 40s and 50s, you think you've got all the time in the world. Suddenly, you're 75 -- [so you gotta do it] or get off the pot."
